Description: Great Ormond Street Hospital is over 150 years old and demand for the services provided is predicted to increase by as much as 20% by 2010, or an increase of 20,000 more patients each year. These pressures have led to an extensive re-development programme which will transform two thirds of the existing hospital site. The construction of the new hospital buildings requires the removal of some of the existing multi-storey buildings and upgrading and expansion of existing departments. Work includes the refurbishment of accommodation in 5 buildings to provide modern wards and treatment facilities.
